This tutorial will show you how to create a simple pilar from a single object, using knife tool with Loop and Line Mode. For texture you can get it from Cinema 4D content browser.

1. Create a cylinder using menu 'Objects' > 'Primitive' > 'Cylinder'. On Attributs manager, Object tab, use numbers as follow. To make the Cylinder editable, sellect on 'Function' menu, then sellect 'Make Editable'.

2. Sellect menu 'Tools > 'Edges'. Then select menu 'Structure' > 'Knife'. On the Attributes manager, Options tab, select 'Loop' on the 'Mode' drop down menu. Then click at the place as u can see in the picture (red arrow).

3. Select three edges, and skip 1 edge, and repeat untill you meet the first edge. Then sellect menu 'Functions' > 'Melt', to delete the selected edges.

4. Clear the useless points at the bottom.

5. Create another cut using knife tool (loop mode), at the pointed area.

6. Sellect 'Tool' > 'Polygons'. Then select menu 'Selection' > 'Ring Selection'. Then click at the pointed area so you can sellect all arround the bottom area.

7. Select menu 'Tools' > 'Scale', and sellect the centre of the Gizmo, and drag it to make the sellected area getting bigger (A). Then to make it narrower, select the tip of the Y axis of the Gizmo, the drag it to bellow direction (B).

8. Create another cut at the pointed area.

9. Using Polygons selection, select polygon by skipping one coloum arround the cylinder as follow.

10. Select menu 'Structure' > 'Extrude'. And on Attributes manager, options tab, use -1 on the 'Offset' drop down menu. Click Apply.

11. Click 'New Transform' to create another extrude with same value.

12. Create another cut.

13. Select 'Objects' > 'NURBS' > HyperNURBS. Place the Cylinder object under the HyperNURBS as hirarcy.

14. Ok, now we turn off the HyperNURBS for a while by clicking the selected area as follow.

15. We go on with the modeling process. Create another cuts as follow, using 'Loop' mode.

16. Then we create another cuts using 'Line' mode at the pointed direction.

17. Create another 5 'Loop' cut as follow.

18. Select menu 'Selection' > 'Loop Selection', and click at the middle edge as you can see below.

19. Using 'Scale' tool, drag it to inner area as follow. Now try to turn on the HyperNURBS.


1. Create a Tube object, at menu 'Objects' > 'Primitive' > 'Tube'. Use the value as follow, Inner Radius: 172m, Outer Radius: 200m, Rotation Segments: 32, Height: 30m. With the Tube object selected, select menu 'Functions' > 'Make Editable'.

2. Select menu 'Selection' > 'Rectangle Selection'. At the Attributea manager, uncheck the 'Only Select Visible Elements' radio button. Then select a half bottom part of the tube.

3. Select menu 'Tools' > 'Edges', then select the bottom edges as follow.

4. Select menu 'Structure' > 'Extrude', then select and drag manualy the selected area to the bottom direction. Just arrange the height of the window as you want.

5. Select menu 'Structure' > 'Knife'. At the Attributes Manager select 'Plane' at the 'Mode' drop down menu. Select X-Z coordinate. Create 4 cuts as pointed as follow.

6. Use 'Tools' > 'Polygons'. Select the pointed area as follow.

7. Use menu 'Structure' > 'Bridge'. We are going to connect the selected area. Make sure you begin to click the same point as you end your click. For example, if you begin at point A1, end it at A2.

8. Use same method to another 2 parts.

9. Now, select the pointed area as follow.

10. Use Knife tool, select Plane mode and check the 'Restrict To Selection' radio button.

11. Create 2 cuts as pointed.

12. Now connect the selected area using Bridge Tool.

13. Do the same to the another part.

14. Sellect the surounded area as pointed. Select menu 'Structure' > 'Bevel'. Use the same value as shown on image, Maximum Angle: 91, Extrusion: 7m, Inner Offset: 5m

15. Use the same method and value to the selected area.

16. We have the bottom part of the window unclosed. To close the hole, right click and pick close hole.
